Stephen Hawking has turned 68 today

Born on the 300th anniversary of Galileo’s death, Hawking is a theoretical physicist who is regarded as one of the most intelligent men alive. Hawking's black hole theories have been called into question in the past decade, but that doesn't diminish his accomplishments.
Lately he has been a huge human spaceflight advocate and has taken a ride on the Vomit Comet; http://www.itwire.com/content/view/10078/1066/
And Richard Branson has offered Hawking a free ride on his VSS Enterprise when it goes into full service.
Kudos to Hawking, he's a surviving s.o.b.!
I completely agree. When it comes to hawking and Sagan - I have a deep appreciation for their work, and a huge amount of respect - regardless if some of their theories were sketchy in the end, or whatever their personal beliefs are/were.
Same with Newton - his Universal Law of Gravitation had come under question in the early 1900s and was altered by Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, but Newton certainly had impacts on the field of physics.
Hawking made physics interesting for people who didn't understand what the fuck physics was about -- and that alone is priceless.
So yes - kudos to Hawking!
Why isn't Branson offering you or me a ride on his VSS!? What, trying to be funny on the internet doesn't draw the same kind of respect as say - accomplishments in science? :p
