McKinnon Extradition Commences

Gary McKinnon is set to be sent to America to answer computer hacking charges after Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary, told his family that he could not block his extradition on medical grounds.

Mr McKinnon’s family were notified of the Home Secretary’s decision this afternoon. Janis Sharp, Mr McKinnon’s mother, was distraught, telling The Daily Telegraph: “I can’t believe it. It is a complete nonsense.”

More on McKinnon

MPs want hacker transfer halted

The extradition to the US of computer hacker Gary McKinnon should be halted owing to his "precarious state of mental health", MPs say.

The Home Affairs Committee also said there was a "serious lack of equality" in US-UK extradition arrangements.

But the Home Office said there was "no imbalance" and no need for a review.

Mr McKinnon, who has Asperger's syndrome, is accused of breaking into the US military computer system but says he was just seeking UFO evidence.

The Glasgow-born 43-year-old, now of Wood Green, north London, faces 60 years in prison if convicted in the US.

Calling BS on Fertiliser

I have enough courage and realism to admit folly or poor judgement on my part. I'm also not one to jump to the disinformation or conspiracy conclusion whenever I hear something I don't like. But come on. This is total bullshit (btw, sorry for the pun in the title - I promised I wouldn't use one, but I did anyway. Blame the DID).

Anyway, the ridiculousness of the following article is not that it's the perfect setup for terrible comedy and an endless stream of poddy jokes (damn it, I did it again!) from talk show hosts across the globe, but that it basically labels the servicemen involved as either liars or nutbags. I'd like to think that the U.S. and U.K. check to make sure those they enlist can tell the difference between a glowing craft that landed, and, say, flaming feces.

Way to wait 29 years, Peter.

Britain's most celebrated UFO sighting was a 'lorry full of fertiliser'

In December 1980, witnesses claimed to have seen coloured and glowing lights coming from close to an RAF base Rendlesham Forest, near Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Servicemen from the airbase who investigated claimed to have seen lights moving through the trees, as well as a bright light from an unidentified object. Some even claimed to have seen a conical metallic object floating above the trees. Police logged the incident as a UFO sighting.

McKinnon Gets Extradition Appeal Deadline

LONDON — Britain's Home Office says a hacker has two weeks to appeal against his planned extradition to the United States to face charges of breaking into military computers.

The Home Office said that it won't surrender Gary McKinnon to the U.S. for 14 days, to allow lawyers to make an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights against his extradition.

Europe Not Disclosing All UFO Files

Every once in a while somene pipes in that the U.S. needs to release their UFO files because "Europe has released theirs". That is not entriely the case, as I have long suspected. Sure, they may release some, but they'd never release all. Not at this stage in the game. The following article addresses just that.

In the two years since the French made their top-secret UFO files public, more European nations have declassified documents. But the majority remain tight-lipped with a few refusing to even acknowledge the phenomenon.

On August 4, 1990, an unidentified flying object was seen hovering in daylight near the town of Pitlochry in Scotland. Eyewitnesses stated that the diamond shaped object hung in the sky for about 10 minutes as two military aircraft made a series of low-level passes near it.

The Galician UFO Incident

For those of you unware of the Galacian UFO video that's been causing somewhat of a stir, here is the video:

There is an excellent write-up about it from Inexplicata:

Although the “Galician Trawler UFO” video has all the marks of a “Blair Witch Project” event, it appears to have been embraced by the UFO community as proof of extraterrestrial visitation. Angel Rodriguez, director of Spain’s GEIFO organization, is a former officer in the Spanish Navy and suggests that the video is actually showing a fishing boat being warned away from an area where naval aviation maneuvers are about to take place, hence the helicopter and the dropping of a marker buoy into the water (the “UFO” that plunges into the ocean, as in a Gerry Anderson TV production)...

Scotland’s Biggest UFO Incident to be a Film

Scotland’s biggest UFO incident is being made into a film, depicting the story of two men who claim they were abducted from their car on the A70 road in West Lothian in 1992.

Excerpt:

Scotland has always been a hotspot for UFO and alien-based activity and now London-based DRB Entertainment is hoping to re-tell the story of Garry Wood and Colin Wright, who claim they were abducted while driving to the village of Tarbrax. Their intended 30 minute journey took an unexpected turn when a disc shaped object hovered above the road in front of them as they drove along the quiet road at 8pm...Read more (with video)
