Speculative Realms recently posted a fun article about Project Camelot, appropriately titled "Daydream Believers". While I don't agree with all of Gary's opinions, it is nice to read criticisms on Camelot to help remind interested parties to tread carefully on what they choose to buy into or put faith in.

My favorite part of the article is where Gary mentions Camelot's habit of interviewing individuals who make predictions that "generally speaking, don't come true". Of course, the most obvious problem in this is that they are interviewing people who make UFO-related predictions, period. The concern of whether they end up true or not, is almost besides the point.

Project Camelot associates with some very - in my opinion - questionable folk, such as David Wilcock, Pete Peterson and Bob Dean. I don't claim that any of these people are purposely bullshitting their 'followers'. They may or may not be, and my opinion is not important here (I think its mostly bullshit *wink*), but as Gary mentioned, maybe these guys should just write books and leave the predictions up to... well - no one.

I simply cannot wait to see the "education" that Jeff and his entourage will provide for the residents of Denver. I can just imagine the 30 second spots on Colorado television: Overly dramatic, shadowy propaganda, a la Anti-Gary Hart campaign ads.

Hrm. I wonder if Donna Rice digs UFOs...

Just think about it -- this time next year, Peckman could be fist-bumping with the Nordics at City Hall!

Here's a shocker! The people over at Project Camelot are saying they do not have high-hopes for a disclosure today.

From the November 26, 2009 Project Camelot Blog post:

"We're not holding our breath: there's no immediate sign of this, and we doubt that this will happen."

Ya think?

"And as a note of interest, we were told recently by an insider source that a speech had been written for Bill Clinton - in his first term - as a Disclosure announcement."

Oh goodie, we can look forward to this sort of bullshit-hype whenever we elect a new President.

So, like... what do the people who don't believe that disclosure will happen on the 27th, get if it doesn't happen? I mean, we would most certainly deserve something, since those of us interested in UFOs have to weed through that crap on a near-daily basis just to find something of relative interest. Not that disclosure wouldn't be interesting, but considering the sources, I won't be purchasing a ticket to Florida, anytime soon.

That Whole Vatican E.T. Thing

I Meant to post this yesterday morning.

Admittedly, while I don't buy into that whole Nov. 27th disclosure stuff, this is really pretty weird. Extremely interesting... and weird. I mean, for the Vatican to have a 5 day conference -- this isn't something you just decide to do one day. Is it the search for extra-solar planets that has prompted them to hop on the ball? I dunno. Possibly, but even if we find a (what we consider) habitable extra-solar planet, it would be a very long time before we could tell if there was life on it. So why the suddenness of it all?

I'm not getting all conspiracy on ya, but it would seem to make a certain amount of sense for an entity such as the Vatican to be the actual disclosure agents. Sure, it won't bode well with a whole lot of people (should the Vatican be chosen for such a role), but choosing a government to do it, is just as slippery.

I suppose we'll see. My gut says it's not a precursor to at least a near disclosure, but my brain does like to consider the scenario.

The UFO Buzz (Aldrin)

This is a couple of years old, but it popped up in my email this morning. Surprisingly, this was the first I had heard of it. I'd still like to get the audio for this (and the audio of Neil Armstrong talking about supposed extraterrestrial ships on the moon). If anyone has legitimate links to these, please send them my way. Originally booked to talk about the latest space shuttle launch, he suddenly found himself being asked about Paris Hilton and had some very interesting things to say.

Buzz Aldrin was supposed to be talking about the latest Space Shuttle Mission. Imagine his surprise when the famous astronaut's guest spot was jammed into the middle of the never-ending discussion about Paris. An experienced media guest, Buzz is never at a loss for prefabricated words.

Europe Not Disclosing All UFO Files

Every once in a while somene pipes in that the U.S. needs to release their UFO files because "Europe has released theirs". That is not entriely the case, as I have long suspected. Sure, they may release some, but they'd never release all. Not at this stage in the game. The following article addresses just that.

In the two years since the French made their top-secret UFO files public, more European nations have declassified documents. But the majority remain tight-lipped with a few refusing to even acknowledge the phenomenon.

On August 4, 1990, an unidentified flying object was seen hovering in daylight near the town of Pitlochry in Scotland. Eyewitnesses stated that the diamond shaped object hung in the sky for about 10 minutes as two military aircraft made a series of low-level passes near it.

The Um, Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission

So, I was reading a summary of the Denver ballot initiative for an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission, because I'm a glutton for punishment and I have this problem where I can't help but watch certain kinds of train wrecks. Anyway, I'm reading the summary of the ballot and somewhere in the middle, the main proponent of this initiative slaps in a little advert for his patented Metatron Technology.

If you don't know about this technology, you're missing out! Or missing out on a hearty chuckle, at the very least. This particular ad offered a software download that was listed as free, but I'm certain it's just an arrow to help promote his other Metatron devices which are very un-free. I knew about the card for a while now, but just discovered the number of products under this "technology" that he offers. Apparently it helps protect you from EMFs.

*Interesting side-note: The indie band EMF had a hit in the early 90s called Unbelievable.

It's a lovely thought isn't it? It's white, soft and fluffy like lil' bunnies - and mostly everyone loves bunnies! Right!?

Hrm...

At any rate, while I'd love to believe that he will be the one to break the door down on disclosure (for my current official position on disclosure, read this) I don't think it's going to happen. The above article mostly assumes that the president might actually has a fucking clue as to whats going on in regards to UFOs or alien vsitation, or that any president has been privy to that information. They do bring up the possibility of even the president being susceptible to a government cover-up, while discussing Clinton' request for information.

Interesting Read on "Full Disclosure"

This blogger brings up some good points. And I agree that while all of us may dream of this "Full Disclosure" business, I don't think it's going to happen - I should clarify that: I don't think it's going to happen because I think it's already happening. I don't believe disclosure is going to come about in some major press conference where the government (any major government) will say "Yes, kiddies, the aliens are here!"

Personally, I think that they have been warming us up to the presence of extra-terrestrials for the last 60 years, in an attempt to dampen any possible shock - perhaps hoping to avoid something like the Orson Welles "War of the Worlds" scare in the days of radio yore. I think disclosure is probably happening now and has been happening - and when they are ready for us to fully know, we will already know.

Some of us are already there.
