I work a lot with WordPress. A lot, a lot. It's the software of choice for most people & businesses looking for a CMS. It's functionality is pretty damn sweet and with it's standalone package available for running off your own hosted account (and the fact it is almost completely customizable), WordPress is a no-brainer... except for one thing:I have this secret love affair with Blogger.
While many moved on past Blogger once they became more serious bloggers, and took up residence at sites like WordPress and Live Journal, I've stayed here (I do briefly mention UFOs here, eventually). It hasn't always been easy, and there have been some major frustrations with it over the year -- namely, the use of Google's own propriety code which is not compliant with W3C standards. Not too big a deal for most, but for me, compliancy is a necessary evil that I have to tend to often, when designing and building sites for clients. Nevertheless, my attraction to Blogger has withstood it's sometimes not-so-minor issues.
One thing I have noticed -- a lot of us UFO and Esoteric nuts have a web presence here. In fact, so many of us are part of the Blogger community, that I am surprised when I come across a WordPress UFO blogsite. It seems somehow out of place. I imagine part of the reason as to why so many of us are here is because Blogger existed before WordPress and was one of the few popular free blogging systems around. Some of us are here because we don't know any better, and others are here because they tried everything else and hated them, for whatever reason, and realized that despite the bells and whistles of other platforms, Blogger was "home". And maybe Blogger reminds us of our respective areas of study: Unpopular, uncool and a little bit odd.
And so it was with me when I started thinking about Interstellar Housewife. I considered running it off of a host with a WordPress install, or even running off the WordPress site, but my heart decided on Blogger... this lil' CMS with a kooky spellcheck and, until recently, it's lack of a page creation function.
I hope Blogger appreciates us, her dedicated fans from the fringe. We've stuck it out and put up with the worst possible tech support that ever there was (I mean really, have you been to the support forums? Christ). I'd like to see her keep going -- defiant and unflinching, quirky and ill-compliant -- not too unlike myself.
That last bit was kind of cheesy.
Who am I kidding -- the whole thing was utter geek-cheese
By the way, I will now be blogging for UFO Magazine! My darling friend Erik Stitt of Contact will also be joining the ranks -- be sure to check out his site! Thanks to those who thought of me (especially Lesley). Between IHW, WOE, and now UFO Mag, I had better start whipping up things to write about!
Thanks again to all of you who read my little slice of the web. You are appreciated -- even those who would love to see me shut the fuck up.

Nobody shuts the fuck up quite like you. Your flavor of shutting the fuck up is my favorite, actually. May you boldly continue shutting the fuck up with blatant unorthodoxy and malicious wit to which I've fallen prey secretly wriggling in schoolgirl glee.
Now...Shut the fuck up!
Erik
Holy Sheeeyit!! I posted a couple of times on the UFO Mag Blog. I Googled my name. The UFO Mag Blog posting is the fourth friggin' entry! Schnikeys!
Google is on top of it lately. That or it's spiders are in lurv with us.
I thinks it's lurv at first crawl...
Speaking of crawling -- why don't you crawl on over to the networked blogs widget I just put in the left column and click "Follow".
I did about 20 minutes ago. It no showie. Why don't you take the fuckin' three mile trip back down my sidebar and do the same on my networked blogs and join the rest of us Saucer Heads! >WINK!!!!!< *ouch*
I did Follow yours about the same time I added the widget.
Typical Facebook. There shit is in Tardwarp Factor 10. It'll show up......Someday.

Ah yes, the Man Who Fell to Earth. He does look crazy psycho in that pic. I like it!
I have a deep respect for Bowie (really, I do) ---- but I absolutely cannot stand most of his music. I recognize his influence on the many genres and bands that followed and am grateful for it, so I'm not just being all passive aggressive about my distaste for his music.
I think it probably has something to do with dating 3 separate women who were obsessed with Bowie. One can only hear so much Aladdin Sane.
When I can't think of blog titles, I usually go n for some lyrics. Usually it's Sisters of Mercy or The The. Occasionally, Duran Duran.
Now I have Bauhaus' version of Spiders of Mars stuck in my head.
Just saw the Emma Woods thing - sweet! Watch out for those Hybrids!
*snort*
Crazy - I'm on there too.
They can I.M. my ass!! Then Jacobs can kiss it!
Say-If ever you need a good laugh, Jump on over to the Forums at EERIE Radio and read the feedback letters I wrote on the last two episodes. Ali read the first over the air on the last episode. DK says it was the best Feedback Letter ever. I always do the Live Show on the Chat Box. Loads of fun. I love those guys and gal. STEPHANIE!!!!
I listen to them to, but don;t think I got the last episode, or I tuned out the reader mail. I often listen to it while working and sometimes I miss stuff.
My faves outside of Paratopia are Paracast, BOA and Eerie. Oh and Radio Mysterioso, now that he is back at it again.
I listen to a few others for a laugh.
We have the exact same podcast tastes! What a co-inky-dink!
Actually I also love blogger! I mean the way it works and looks, certainly not the non-existent customer service. I blog at several WP blogs and then the UFO Mag squarespace blog which I think is much sweeter than WP. I have also tried, typepad, drupal and just about any CMS you can think of, but I still like blogger better than any of them.
Someone can hear too much Aladdin Sane? :O
"Someone can hear too much Aladdin Sane? :O"
You know who I love? Richard Butler from Psyche Furs. He has got this Bowie-ness influence about him. At least when he is on stage and swishing his cute lil' Brit-hips. Plus also, Love Spit Love totally rocked.
He sounds and acts the most like Bowie of anyone. I used to love the furs. Don't know if they are still doing anything since I don't keep up much on music these days.
